OUR IMPRINT PROCESS
Taking your baby’s imprints is a quick and safe process that we have perfected for over 12 years! The process involves gently pressing your child’s hands or feet onto soft organic clay, which is similar to the consistency of playdough. It is common for your baby to be a little upset as the clay can be quite cold but the imprints are done in seconds and the results are timeless. To give you some peace of mind, I took imprints of my two girls when they were both 1 day old in the hospital! The clay is then dried, sanded by hand, glazed, and then taken to our kiln where it is fired for 24hrs. Two imprint copies are always made to ensure there is a backup tile should any accidents occur. The good news is that accidents are rare and the raw backup copy is given to you upon collection for your safekeeping. Should anything happen to your original Imprint frame it’s always reassuring to know that you have a backup copy. If you wish to have your backup imprint tile fired we can do this for $50 per tile.
FAQ's of BABY IMPRINTS
Is the clay ok for all skin types?
Yes, the clay we use in our Brisbane and Sydney studios is organic and suitable for all skin types.
How old does my baby have to be for imprints?
Any age! For newborns, the age we recommend is anywhere between two to six weeks, but again, any age is suitable for imprints.
Are the imprints only for babies?
No, our imprints can be used for any age! Our Sydney and Brisbane studios also offer pet imprints, a great gift idea for fur mums and dads. Our imprints are also entirely customisable, and family imprint frames are a gorgeous way to capture your growing family.
Can I customise my frame?
Yes, our Sydney and Brisbane studios offer customisable imprint frames that our studio managers can design with you to suit your needs.
Can I do imprints and pair them with my images?
No, our imprints can only be paired with images taken in one of our Sydney or Brisbane studios.
Do I do the imprints myself?
No, our staff in our Sydney and Brisbane studios are trained for our style of imprinting, and this will be done in your imprint only or photography and imprint session.
How long does an imprint session take?
An imprint-only session at our Sydney or Brisbane studio will take up to thirty minutes.
Do I need to do a photo session to be able to do imprints?
No, if you are only after imprints, our Sydney and Brisbane studios offer baby imprint only frames. We have a selection of imprint-only frames to choose from. You can also design a custom frame with one of our Sydney or Brisbane studio managers.
